03/24/2008  Surfing Ballina

Were back in Byron with bro Lew and friends. The surf has been consistent and the water is so warm up here. Time to sell our van as our funds are getting low. I bumped into Joe Moran from Newquay today. He had just come back from the police station where he got fined $350 for jumping the fence at the 'Blues n Roots festival' and breaking it.

The bouncers jumped on him and took him down. But Joe being Joe still managed to sweet talk them and blag his way in. He told them he knew the owners of the property, he had a wicked night ... Legend!

03/24/2008   Bells WCT 08

After our heavy night out in Melbourne we were all nicely hung over. So we decided to drive down to Bells to watch the worlds top 45 surfers warming up for the Easter WCT event.

When we came close to Bells beach I saw 6 ft lines rolling in on the horizon. It was a bit windy and grey with only a few pros out. I kind of didn't want to go out as it was bigger then it looked and i didn't have my wet suit with me. I could of done with a bigger board too as I only had my 6'2.

I was still drunk from the night before and feeling rough so i decided a nice bit of exercise would do me good. With only a pair of boardies on, the water felt really cold. A couple of the set waves closed out across the bay and formed a nice shore break that smashed me on the way out. As the rip took me out, I suddenly found myself deeper then everybody and wave of the day came rolling my way, I was perfectly positioned. As I turned and started paddling for it , I realised I was under the lip. Everyone was hooting as I started paddling. As I went over the falls I saw Adriana De Suza smiling at me and I knew I was in for a pounding. The wave rolled me all the way to the beach under water! After that, I felt quite sober and paddled back out and snagged a few waves before getting too cold because of all the alcohol in my system.

The next day was sick, we scored it 4 ft and perfect the water was warmer without the wind and i stayed in for 3 hours with Keiren Perrow and the Hobgood twins.
