SUMMER LOVE !

The Summer season break from Boxing has been refreshing.
We've had excellent surf and our surf school has been busy.
I've been getting 3 surfs a day with a flashy new team suit from
c-skins and a new board. ....... So I'm as amped as a grommet
on 'sunny d'. Things couldn't be sweeter. Feeling blessed
to live where I do.

I'll be starting training for my next fight soon... Fresher then ever. Bring it OOOWWN ! photos from a surf at Sennen last Sunday :)

Danny Goode (won 12 lost 4) came for a war and made a difficult night's work for me last weekend. He held, head butted and came forward with cuffing shots and had me confused for the first few rounds. In the 4th, he fractured my jaw with a head clash and I feel the ref could of done more about the spoiling.

It wasn't until the 5th round, I started to find my range and created some space to land a body, head combination to put Goode down on his knees. I could see he was tired at this point and felt I was growing stronger as the fight continued.

He couldn't beat the Ref's10 count. In what was mostly a scruffy affair, I learnt so much from this fight against a rugged, experienced fighter with a few tricks up his sleeve. My preparation for the fight was as good as can be and I had to give away a few lbs to Goode who will be fighting again soon for a British masters title.
I brought up over 60 Cornish supporters to Torquay all of whom i truly thank for their non-stop shouting and screaming. I would also like to thank my trainer Dave Smith for everything and of course New Milton's Danny Goode for a spirited performance. A great night of boxing promoted by Keith Mayo and a lovely way to finish what has been a tuff winter. Time to enjoy some sun and Surf ! Sam

March 2010
Last Friday, I boxed Bobby Wood at Trowbridge Civic Hall.
This was my second professional fight, a four hour drive from the deep South West.
I brought up 35 supporters that were so loud, I couldn't hear my entrance music as I made my way to the ring.

Bobby Wood was a well respected Amateur and had already won his first 2 professional fights.
He is a southpaw like me, which can cause confusion as most of our sparring is done with right handed fighters.
From my amateur experience, I've learnt the best way to fight a southpaw is to get down and dirty.

Bobby came out sharper then me and landed the first few blows which were straight lefts to my face.
As I settled in to the round, I found my range and landed a combination which temporarily put Bobby down.
I ended the fight in the second round with another flurry as this time, Wood couldn't beat the count.
I would like to thank Bobby for the fight and for being a great sport. He had also travelled a fair few miles from Birmingham.

My supporters were amazing and its good to see the Cornish taking an interest to boxing.
My fan base is getting bigger and bigger and I'm selling more tickets each time!

There's no time to relax for me now though, I'm back out running tomorrow for a possible fight in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned for info on my next fight..

Beaten now - knock-out in second round!

I have a date and an opponent for my next fight. I'm fighting at
| Trowbridge - 8 St Stephens Place, Trowbridge, BA14 8AH |
on the 26th March against Bobby Wood. He's unbeaten and is a southpaw like me so it will be a good battle.

February 2010

My debut win at York Hall London was like a dream come true. I've always wanted to fight there and it was a big show for a
'first pro fight'. There's nothing like jumping in at the deep end.
My opponent was Duncan Cottier on his 67th fight, a slippery journeyman with a few tricks up his sleeve and some flashy defensive moves.

I just settled into the fight nicely and used my boxing skills to a comfortable points win. I thoroughly enjoyed the fight and used
the rounds to try different moves in front of a coach load of my loyal Cornish fans (who braved the trip in the snow to support me - much appreciated)
Training has been hard and I'm currently waiting for a confirmation about my next fight which should within the next few weeks. I've been beach running and shadow boxing in the soft sand to increase footwork and foot speed as well as a few secret core strength exercises. My friend has set me up facebook page if you want to become a fan and follow me towards my first title.
Thank you all
