03/31/2009    Fight update

Sam fought Luke Whane at Newquay sports centre for the southern divs aba final. In a close, cagey start, both boxers landed straight shots as they adapted patiently to the new 3x3 minute round format. By the 3rd round it became clear that Sam was landing more shots, making the most of his awkward southpaw style.

' I know Luke is a strong, big middleweight so i didnt want to take any silly chances, i just used my jab and footwork and i think it was my speed that beat him' Sam said.

Smart will now box for the Western counties title this weekend at Weston Supermare..... below -
